The International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) is proud to announce the winners of the ICGN Awards 2025, celebrating excellence in stewardship and corporate governance across the global investment community. These awards highlight organisations, teams, and individuals who exemplify the principles of corporate governance and stewardship. A record number of nominations was received this year, and a global shortlist of nominees was created by the ICGN Awards Committee and reviewed by independent judging panels. After careful consideration, the following winners were presented with their Awards on 1 December in a ceremony at 116 Pall Mall, London.

The ICGN Global Stewardship Disclosure Awards recognise excellence in stewardship disclosure reporting by ICGN asset owner or asset manager members that best embodies the five principles set out in the ICGN Global Stewardship Principles:
Asset Owners – £60 billion and above AUM Winner: British Columbia Investment Management Corporation Recognised for innovative reporting on climate, human capital, and responsible AI priorities, strong global advocacy, and demonstrating that a condensed report can still be comprehensive.
Asset Owners – Under £60 billion AUM Winner: Permodalan Nasional Berhad Recognised for producing an outstanding stewardship report that demonstrates a commitment to collaborative engagement and responsible investment practices. Their efforts to unite like-minded partners for sustainable investment and enhance market practices stand out, particularly in a region where stewardship reporting is still emerging.
Asset Managers – £60 billion and above AUM Winner: Nordea Asset Management Commended for a robust stewardship report that reflects strong integration across its investment structure. The report highlights significant engagement with regulators and detailed responses to public consultations, underscoring Nordea’s commitment to impactful stewardship and transparency.
Asset Managers – Under £60 billion AUM Winner: Sands Capital Management, LLC Acknowledged for a comprehensive and granular stewardship report, including a clear mission and purpose, detailed voting policies, and thorough conflict-of-interest scenarios. Their vendor policy and discussion of service providers further demonstrate robust transparency.
Commendation: LBP AM Recognised for its “GREaT Strategy” and proactive approach, including pre-declared votes and written AGM questions. Their commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability management and investor initiatives reinforces their dedicated role.
The ICGN Achievement Awards recognise excellence in corporate governance and stewardship for individuals, teams, or organisations:
Excellence in Corporate Governance Award Individual: Marta Viegas 2 Honoured for pioneering governance improvements in debt instruments, creating a corporate governance function, and leading a high-performing team that enhanced governance across 500 transactions in 26 countries.
Organisation, Team, or Collaboration: Railpen Recognised for leadership in investor coalitions addressing complex governance challenges, including multi-class share structures, and for spearheading the Governance for Growth Investor Coalition (GGIC).
Excellence in Stewardship Award Individual: Nana Li Awarded for sustained excellence in stewardship through innovative sustainable investment strategies, research methodologies, and thought leadership in the Asia Pacific region.
Organisation, Team, or Collaboration: Collective Impact Coalition for Ethical Artificial Intelligence Celebrated for its collaborative approach to promoting ethical AI strategies and governance frameworks, making a significant impact for investors, companies, and boards globally.
Rising Star Award Winner: Enobong Shittu Recognised as a visionary governance professional transforming perceptions of corporate governance in Africa. Her work demonstrates that governance is a strategic advantage for early and growth-stage enterprises, not merely a regulatory requirement.
Lifetime Achievement Award Winner: David Pitt-Watson Honoured as one of the most influential pioneers of responsible investment and stewardship. His leadership in creating ventures that advanced governance advocacy and institutional stewardship services set new global standards and inspired market-wide change.

Will co-leads the climate change theme at EOS, the stewardship arm of Federated Hermes Limited, where his coverage includes companies in Europe and Australia, primarily financial services, energy, chemicals, and materials. Prior to joining EOS, Will worked in the energy and infrastructure investment banking team at Macquarie Capital, where he specialised in renewable energy. Before that, Will held a number of roles across the UK climate policy space, including as a parliamentary researcher for Rt. Hon. Chris Skidmore MP on climate and energy issues, and as a climate and economic policy analyst at a diplomatic institute. He was appointed as a voluntary adviser to Rt. Hon. Alok Sharma MP, President of COP26, on preparations for COP26 after co-founding a Westminster climate policy group in 2019, which engaged MPs and Members of the House of Lords to advocate for more ambition on climate action in public policy. Will has a Bachelor’s degree (1st Class Honours) in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
