ICGN Appoints Peter van Veen as Global Policy Director

London, 22 June 2026, The International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter van Veen as Global Policy Director, effective 1 August 2026.

Peter joins ICGN at an important time for corporate governance and investor stewardship. As companies, investors and policymakers navigate an increasingly complex global environment, there has rarely been a more important time to focus on governance. Good governance underpins investor confidence, supports long-term value creation and helps sustain well-functioning capital markets. Simply put, G is Key.

As Global Policy Director, Peter will lead ICGN’s global policy, advocacy and thought leadership activities, working with investor members, companies and policymakers to promote high standards of governance and investor stewardship around the world. He will join the ICGN Senior Leadership Team on a full-time basis and will be based at ICGN’s London headquarters.

Peter joins from ICAEW, where he serves as Director of Corporate Governance & Stewardship, leading policy and thought leadership on governance, stewardship, ethics and responsible business practices. Prior to ICAEW, he held senior ethics and compliance roles with multinational companies headquartered in the Netherlands, France and Japan. Peter is Chair of the audit & risk committee and a member of the governance committee of Transparency International and is a Supervisory Committee Member of ACAPS. He also sits on the Integrated Reporting and Connectivity Council (IRCC).
Earlier in his career, Peter established and led the Business Integrity Programme at Transparency International UK and worked in corporate strategy and management consulting with organisations including Accenture, Bertelsmann and Shell.

ICGN CEO Jen Sisson said:
“Peter brings a rare combination of governance expertise, international policy experience and practical business leadership. As we continue to strengthen ICGN’s global advocacy and thought leadership, his experience and perspective will be invaluable. He understands that strong governance supports investor confidence, strengthens market confidence and contributes to long-term value creation. I am happy to welcome him to the team.”

Michael Herskovich, Chair of ICGN, said:
“ICGN’s ability to promote high standards of governance depends on combining technical expertise with a strong understanding of the practical challenges faced by companies, investors and regulators. Peter brings all of these qualities. His international experience, policy leadership and deep commitment to governance and ethics will be a tremendous asset to ICGN and its members. On behalf of the Board, I am delighted to welcome him to the organisation.”

Peter van Veen said:
“I am delighted to be joining ICGN at such an important time for corporate governance and investor stewardship. I look forward to working with members and policymakers around the world to demonstrate how good governance drives long-term value creation, innovation and inward investment, in turn increasing market competitiveness and economic growth.”

Peter’s appointment reflects ICGN’s continued commitment to advancing high standards of governance, Protecting Shareholder Rights, Reliable Reporting, Strong and Effective Boards and Best Practices in Investor Stewardship. Through its policy and advocacy work, ICGN seeks to strengthen governance frameworks that support investor confidence and resilient, well-functioning capital markets worldwide.
